ARTISTS STATEMENT

My practice is multi-disciplinary: involving painting, printmaking, small sculpture and drawing. My passion for drawing and line is evident through most of my work.

I am influenced by the installation practice of Anselm Kiefer and Kiki Smith.

I exhibit regularly, and I work from my studio at the beautiful Gasworks Arts Park in Albert Park.

My practice does not reflect a single style as I am forever wanting to challenge my creativity. I also like to have a number of works developing in the studio at one time. These disparate works: collage, painting and drawing, maintain my inspiration.

Paintings investigating a visual exploration emanating from the clues and symbols from research surrounding myth. My Investigation has involved regular study tours to Greece and surrounding countries, visiting ancient sites and regions. More recently my interest in landscape has resulted in a series of works highlighting my concern for the future of the environment. My background as a designer gives voice to an interest in abstract painting, employing collage and acrylic to create visual and textural works.

I have a passion for line. I find it exciting to embark on a drawing, be it large scale or a small work on paper, and create an ‘otherworldliness’, a world that one can almost inhabit. I have been shortlisted for a number of drawing prizes, and have been commissioned to create a number of large scale drawings.
